Fall Back Into Fitness Challenge
Duration
4 Weeks (September or October)
Best For
Studios re-engaging members after a slow summer
Primary Goal
Increase Attendance + Improve Retention + Build Community
Overview
September is the second January. Vacations are over, school is back, and members are looking for a routine again — but only for a short window before the holidays scatter everyone. A fall challenge captures that intent while it exists.
The specific job of this challenge is re-engagement, not rewarding your regulars. Build it around getting lapsed members back for a first visit and then making the second and third visit feel easy.
Lean into the season in your copy and prizes. Fall-themed rewards cost the same as generic ones and get shared far more on social.
Goal
Bring summer-lapsed members back into a consistent routine and rebuild attendance momentum heading into the fourth quarter.
How It Works
- 1Run a four-week board in late September or early October.
- 2Include a 'welcome back' square that any returning member can complete on their first visit.
- 3Members mark squares as they attend, try new formats and take part in studio events.
- 4Milestone rewards fire at each completed line so early wins come fast.
- 5Finish with a drawing and announce winners before November.

Promotion Ideas
- Email every member who hasn't visited since June with a 'welcome back' subject line and the join link.
- Put fall QR signage at the door the week before launch so regulars start talking about it.
- Announce the challenge in every class during launch week.
- Post the board on Instagram and tag members who complete their first line.
- Text or DM lapsed members individually — this is the single highest-converting channel for re-engagement.
Tips for Success
- Launch the week after Labor Day, while routine-setting intent is highest.
- Make the first square trivially easy so returning members get an immediate win.
- Keep it to four weeks so it ends cleanly before Thanksgiving.
- Feature returning members, not just top attenders, in your social posts.
- Plan your December challenge before this one ends so you can announce it at the finish.
